Prerequisites
For this new and revised qualification there are no longer any prescribed entry requirements. The course however would benefit those people already working in the industry who wish to further their study and progress in their careers.

Be aware that working in this industry will require you to obtain a National Police check prior to commencing employment. Other States and Territories outside NSW have similar guidelines and if you move around Australia it is advisable to check with local licensing authorities. If you want to work in the ACT for example, you will also need to undergo a Working with Vulnerable People check.

Be aware also that most care facilities will require that workers are physically fit and emotionally capable of working in the environment. This also means that workers do not have a pre-existing medical condition or a communicable disease that may put the health and safety of the client and other staff at risk.
