This qualification reflects the role of workers participating in the design, implementation and evaluation of leisure, health activities and programs for clients in one or more sector areas.

Workers may be in residential facilities and/or in community agencies and day centres, completing specialised tasks and functions in relation to leisure and health.
While workers are responsible for their own outputs, work is carried out under direct or indirect supervision within defined organisation guidelines.

To achieve this qualification, the candidate must have completed at least 120 hours of work as detailed in the Assessment Requirements of the units of competency.

Language, Literacy and Numeracy
Every applicant must complete a Language Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) Test before we enrol you on the course.
This LLN evaluation will assist NWCT in identifying each learner’s needs and appropriate support to be offered if and when required.
Course Structure
To achieve this qualification, the candidate must demonstrate competency in 17 units of competency:  
10 core units;
7 elective units.

• CHCLAH004 Participate in planning leisure and health programs for clients with complex needs
• CHCLAH005 Incorporate lifespan development and sociological concepts into leisure and health programming
• CHCPRP003 Reflect on and improve own professional practice
• HLTAAP002 Confirm physical health status
• HLTWHS002 Follow safe work practices for direct client care

What is Work Placement?
Work Placement is the part of your course where you learn and are assessed in a place of work, related to your course which has been approved by NWCT.

At your work placement, you’ll get practical, hands-on experience under the guidance of your supervisor. Your supervisor will be someone with involvement in the industry, who can mentor you during your placement.
Minimum required hours
This course includes an approximate minimum of 120 hours in a suitable workplace to complete practical tasks.
How do I find a Work Placement?
We already have Memorandum of Understanding with several Care facilities and we will guarantee your Work placements with one of our partners.
However, if you are already in the industry and choose your employer as your work placement, we will also support your option.

Education  
Year 12 (HSC); or equivalent qualification/s  

Minimum age  
You will need to be at least 18 years old or over for enrollment.
Specific additional course requirements
Successful completion of NWCT Work Placement Requirements, including National Police check and Relevant immunisation check.
